  • A print and a reprint are known: one is from Antonio Gardane, the other is from an unknown publisher [Scotto?]; both: Venice 1546.
  • In the printing from an unknown publisher didactical motives are added: a short explanation "Regola alli lettori" is annexed and a huge amount of (double) cross symbols are inserted. Additionally, in parts the sequence of the items is different and in some items (e.g. Ricercar 2) the positions of the bar lines are changed.
  • At that time it was intended to play Pass'e mezzo, Padoana (=Padovana/Paduana), Saltarello (or Pass'e mezzo, Gagliarda, Padoana) together in that order.
  • The following table of contents is sequenced as done in the Antonio Gardane version and same as actually used at Steur/Lutz, so that incipits/concordances can be found quickly.
  • Refreshed French lute tablatures are offered by Sarge Gerbode, but the content is based on the other printing, so it has to be looked at the table of contents of both books to be able to find the proper concordances, if that is wanted.
  • Several items will be composed by Antonio Rotta, but just a few are marked with a sparse "A.R." and even that just in one printing.
