May be dedicated to violinist Hellmesberger Jr. who stayed on at the now-named Herbeck concerts when it was premiered in 1860. Possibly dedicated to his father (Sr) instead however? The quartet was brought out by a quartet headed by Hellmesberger Sr., and dedicated to him (according to "Modern Music and Musicians", p.347). So yes, Hellmesberger Sr. |
