US premiere 15 January 1934 by Chicago Symphony, cond. Frederick Stock (Moscow premiere under Leo Ginzburg more or less simultaneous). According to de-Wikipedia and source (Gulinskaya), was probably intended to be dedicated to Stock (see the de-Wikipedia article).
was conceived in February 1933 ("konzipierte in einer einzigen Februarnacht des Jahres 1933.") - Gulinskaya, p.155 (1985 translation). "Die Uraufführung der 13. Sinfonie fand fast gleichzeit in Moskau (Dirigent: L. Ginsburg) und in Chicago (Dirigent: F. Stock) statt.) (p.158.) -- suggests, I think, that we don't really know which of these two was the first performance. This is somewhat similarly the case with at least one work by Prokofiev, too, I believe- for instance- though for that work (one of his string quartets?) for complicated reasons. - Schissel
