Earliest surviving source is a set of parts copied out ca.1730; believed to have been composed ca.1717–1723 in Cöthen but perhaps composed instead when Bach was in Leipzig.
In 1865 an arrangement by Friedrich Hermann "1ière Concerto (Am.) p. Violon av. Pfte arr. p. Fr. Hermann." was published by Peters (Edition Peters no.229, plate 4476, 19 pages score, 7 pages violin part, acc. to.) - Schissel
