Extra Information Quite possibly composed 1895 also, as the autograph for op.66 is dated 1894... - Schissel. I am now informed that, according to Jean-Michel Nectoux (Gabriel Fauré: A Musical Life, p.512) the Thème et Variations were completed 1895 September, premiered 1896, and given first publication in 1897 both by Hamelle and by Metzler of London.
