Neue Gesamtausgabe, Band VI. (pp.1-140) Vienna: Musikwissenschaftlicher Verlag, 1952*. URTEXT EDITION This "urtext" or "scholarly" (scientific) edition is in the public domain because it was published at least 25 years ago for most of the EU (20 years ago in Italy, 30 years ago in Poland) over 25 years ago for the former USSR. Such editions are also public domain in Canada because they fail to meet the minimum 'threshold of originality' to qualify for copyright as an 'adaptation'. They may not be public domain elsewhere. More information about this can be found here. Please obey the copyright laws of your country. IMSLP does not assume any sort of legal responsibility or liability for the consequences of downloading files that are not in the public domain in your country.

Misc. Notes

Editor's preface removed for copyright reasons. *Nowak's edition here was reprinted from Haas' edition of the 1930s (where the 1881 version appeared in score and parts). The engraving on this score clearly pre-dates the claim of 1952 by decades. Why this item would qualify for copyright in the United States is a complete mystery as there is nothing original of Nowak's to be found in it.

Misc. Notes
|
Includes posthumous editorial changes. A slightly revised version by Hynais was prepared for publication by Doblinger in 1899 (First Edition). Although Hynais' work was careful, the final printed text contains many errors and changes introduced by an unknown hand. Another edition of this version, prepared by Wöss, was published in 1927. See Griegel. Movement listing differs somewhat from the consensus.

Misc. Notes

Double bass may replace cello. Schmalnauer's arrangement is PD-US due to the failure to register the work with the U.S. Copyright Office and failure to file an NIE. In the USA this work is most likely in the public domain because it was published without a compliant copyright notice or no renewal was found after a thorough search of the Catalog of Copyright Entries and it was apparently ineligible for "restoration" under GATT/TRIPS.
