Holograph manuscript, n.d.[1803-27].

Misc. Notes

this manuscript may not be the original holograph (though there are no records of the composer copying it over after the final published version was reached, offhand- still, that "449" on the first page is interesting, especially since this is not a copy made for Simrock... odd...) - one can only say with certainty that this dates from after the Andante favori was rejected and before the composer died...

Extra Information
|
In the holograph, the introduzione is simply "Adagio" and the Rondo is simply "Allegretto" (sin molto / moderato) ... This sonata used to have a long "Andante" section. Beethoven didn't like it, so it became a separate work ("Andante favori") WoO 57. The "Introduzione (Adagio molto {?})" is now the middle movement that introduces the third movement.
