Misc. Comments
For the 3rd Sunday after Epiphany.
Commentary on the movements
- Chorus: Alles nur nach Gottes Willen. A movement propelled by the sixteenth notes in the violins. Bach here replaces an aria (proscribed by the librettist) with a chorus.
- Recitativo (Alto): O selger Christ, der allzeit seinen Willen. Secco recitative-arioso.
- Aria (Alto): Mit allem, was ich hab und bin. The alto starts off immediately here; violins are the obbligato. After the introductory words, we then hear the instrumental ritornello.
- Recitativo (Bass): So glaube nun! Secco recitative.
- Aria (Soprano): Mein Jesus will es tun, er will dein Kreuz versüßen. Oboe and strings serve as accompaniment.
- Choral: Was mein Gott will, das g'scheh allzeit. A plain chorale setting.
