Section Listing
- Aria: Ich habe genug. A yearning expressive theme opens this tightly wound aria, which (like all of the arias) is for the soloist, oboe, and strings. c minor
- Recitativo: Ich habe genug. Secco recitative. A♭ Major-B♭ Major
- Aria: Schlummert ein, ihr matten Augen. This is the "slumber aria." The drone-like figures, modal quality, and other "loosening" elements make this gentle aria a wonderful word-painting. E♭ Major
- Recitativo: Mein Gott! wenn kömmt das schöne: Nun! Secco recitative. c minor
- Aria: Ich freue mich auf meinen Tod. "One of those pieces cloe to dance—with clear, periodic phrase structure, enlivened by strong rhythmic impulses"1. Perhaps a bit inconclusive, but still a wonderful, joyous aria to conclude. c minor
Version History
- 1727, original c minor version with Bass and Oboe
- 1731, e minor version with Soprano and Flute
- 1735, lost mezzo-soprano version
