Misc. Comments
For the 5th Sunday after Easter (Rogation Sunday).
Commentary on the movements
- [Solo] (Bass): Bisher habt ihr nichts gebeten. A highly imitative and expressive opening movement.
- Recitativo (Alto): O Wort! das Geist und Seel erschreckt. An unusually dramatic secco recitative.
- Aria (Alto): Vergib, o Vater! unsre schuld. A very "middle-range" aria with two obbligato oboes da caccia.
- Recitativo (Tenor): Wenn unsre Schuld bis an den Himmel steigt. Recitative with string accompaniment.
- [Solo (Bass):] In der Welt habt ihr Angst. An arioso for bass and continuo.
- Aria (Tenor): Ich will leiden, ich will schweigen. A dance-like, relaxed movement in 12/8.
- Choral: Muß ich sein betrübet? A plain chorale setting (tune=Jesu, meine Freude).
