Misc. Comments
For the 1st Sunday after Easter.
Commentary on the movements
- Sinfonia. Thought to date from Der Himmel dacht auf Anhalts Ruhm und Glück, BWV 66a. The double reeds function as a smaller group against the string backdrop. D major
- Recitativo (Tenor): Am Abend aber desselbigen Sabbats. Secco recitative. B minor
- Aria (Alto): Wo zwei und drei versammlet sind. "The third movement unfolds a supraterrestrial calm."1. Perhaps also from BWV 66a. G major
- Choral Duetto: Verzage nicht, o Häuflein klein. Basically an "aria duetto." B minor
- Recitativo (Bass): Man kann hiervon ein schön Exempel sehen. Secco recitative. G major-A minor
- Aria (Bass): Jesus ist ein Schild der Seinen. For divided first violins (!) and continuo in addition to the solo voice. The continuo here plays an important role. A major
- Choral: Verleih uns Frieden gnädiglich. Plain chorale setting. F♯ minor
